Expo 2020 is the best stage for the début of 5G. This is the challenge to be faced by the UAE: to be the first country with a functioning public network on the occasion of the Universal Exposition.

The aim is to turn the exhibition site into an actual technological showcase, in which the 5G network can become the special highlight of the event.

It has therefore become a race to make sure that the development of 5G is one of the cornerstones of the UAE Vision 2021 plan: its primary goal is to make the United Arab Emirates one of the most hi-tech countries with the best ICT infrastructure by 2021, the year of the country’s 50th anniversary,

The shared goal is to be ready for mid-2017, when the international standardisation bodies will accept the technical proposals that could become standard.
